This Train the Trainer includes the following objectives:
1) Provide updated PowerPoint to help with local HWC OK Implementation
(criteria, procedure, and response to notification)
2) Discussion of sample agreements to enhance local existing partnerships and school-based efforts
3) Strategies to Increase Sustainability
The Handle With Care Oklahoma Collaborative is designed to advance partnerships between law enforcement, schools, and behavioral/social/health providers to create a safe and supportive academic environment for children recently exposed to traumatic events known as “adverse childhood experiences” (ACEs). ACEs are broad and sweeping events that may include experiencing violence, abuse, or neglect, or witnessing violence in the home. With buffering supports, ACEs can be addressed and lead to a positive life trajectory. Children must feel safe in order to learn. Together we can create and connect youth and families to a continuum of supports.
